The documents which contain combination of computer data including graphics, sounds text, video, multimedia and interactive content that runs while the user is interactive with the page. Each website has its own unique address which let a user runs to access the web page through cline side application known as web browsers. We enter the website address in browser URL bar and access the website.address of a website like http://www.google.com

           A web portal is a specially  website that brings information form diverse sources, like emails, online forums  and search engines, together in a uniform way . usually each information source gets its dedicated area on the page of displaying information.for example- service portal, community portal, learning portal.

In  another word, The protocol tells your browser how to communicate with a website's server, in order to send and retrieve information.eg- FTP, HTTP,MAIL.

A standard protocol is a mandated, fixed procedure for completing a task. Often designated by flow chart or spelled out in textual steps, standard protocol may be nationally recognized or de facto--accepted, but not nationally recognized.

   Domain name is the address that you type into your web browser address bar to get to a website. Eg- www.yahoo.com A domain name is unique to a website have the same  domain name.A domain name is a unique, easy-to-remember address used to access websites, such as 'google.com', and 'facebook.com'. Users can connect to websites using domain names thanks to the DNS system.

A domain name is a string of text that maps to a numeric IP address, used to access a website from client software. In plain English, a domain name is the text that a user types into a browser window to reach a particular website. For instance, the domain name for Google is ‘google.com.

    A web server is a remote database which provides information to the user via  web browser requested. A web server is a computer hosting one or more websites. "Hosting" means that all the web pages and their supporting files are available on that computer. The web server will send any web page from the website it is hosting to any user's browser, per user request. 

A web server is software and hardware that uses HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) and other protocols to respond to client requests made over the World Wide Web.

The main job of a web server is to display website content through storing, processing and delivering webpages to users. sending and receiving emails. downloading requests for File Transfer Protocol (FTP) files; and building and publishing webpages.

Difference between world wide web and internet

 

world wide web:-

Some people use the terms internet and world wide web interchangeably. They think they are the same thing but it is not so. Internet is entirely different from www is a worldwide network of devices like computers, laptops, tables, etc. it enables users to send emails to other users and chat with them online .for example,  When you send an email or chatting with someone online, you are using the internet.

But when you have opened a website like google.com for information you are using the world wide web a network of servers over the internet. You request a web page from your computer using a browser renders that page to your browser. Your computer is called a client who runs a program and asks the other computer for the information.

World Wide Web Features:-

The amount of information available on the Internet has become so large that it is difficult to search for specific information. The World Wide Web (www) makes retrieval easy and quick. 

The www is a search tool that helps you find and retrieve information from a web site using links to other sites and documents. The WWW was built on the technology called Hypertext. This technology increases accessibility to linked documents on the Internet and helps user to navigate between documents very easily. 

Hypertext is identified by underlined text and a different color usually. Some places will refer to these types of technique as Jump – Off Points. Hypertext can make links within the same document or to other documents.

Each time you access a new document by choosing a link, there is a connection made with the web server that the document is on. Once the appropriate document is retrieved the connection is broken. There is no point in joining the link while you are viewing it. This is one reason why the WWW is so efficient. 

www lets you search, traverse, and use many types of information at numerous sites and in multiple forms. This interface is called a browser. Some people refer to a browser as a web browser ‘often these terms are used interchangeably. 

The www is intended to help people share information resources, and services with the widest possible community of users. Thus a user can access the www on Apple. UNIX, Macintosh, DOS, Windows, and other operating systems. 

just like the internet, the WWW has a protocol, which is known as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). HTTP acts as an interface between a Web Client Software, such Netscape Navigator.

Web browsing is a kind of software which is used to access the web contents This kind of software is used at the client side. This contains various tools which are used to navigate the web contents. We need to type the address of the website at the address bar in the web browser and this will let you  reach to the home page default of the website.

An information resource is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of content. Hyperlinks present in resources enable users to easily navigate their browsers to related resources.

 First of all we know about protocol which is a set of rules that describes how computers communicate. In Internet environment every computer use a protocol called TCP/IP.

 The Internet, sometimes called simply "the Net," is a worldwide system of computer networks a network of networks in which users at any one computer can, if they have permission, get information from any other computer and sometimes talk directly to users at other computers. Whenever you will a message through internet, TCP divides the data into units called packets and attaches to each packet. Internet protocol then labels all the packets with a header containing the address of the destination and sends them on their way.

When the packets reach their destination, the computer on the receiving end removes the IP header and uses the data that TCP attached to each packet to make use none of the packets have been lost or damaged. The packets are then reassembled into the original message.To use TCP/IP protocol computer need the specific software.Different type of hardware used to connect computer with the internet like modem is used to access the internet from home.You are connected through a computer with an Internet Gateway, if you access the Internet from a computer .In the LAN, Gateway is a special computer that communicates with the internet.To send or recive information speed depends on the modem or its bandwidth. Bandwidth is the capacity of data lines to carry Internet traffic.

Technically, what distinguishes the Internet is its use of a set of protocols called Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Two recent adaptations of Internet technology, the Intranet and the extranet, also make use of the TCP/IP protocol.The Internet can be seen as having two major components: network protocols and hardware. The protocols, such as the TCP/IP suite, present sets of rules that devices must follow in order to complete tasks. Without this common collection of rules, machines would not be able to communicate.

The HTML syntax displays embedded hyperlinks with URLs, which permits users to navigate to other web resources. In addition to text, web pages may contain references to images, video, audio, and software components, which are either displayed or internally executed in the user's web browser to render pages or streams of multimedia content. Web applications are web pages that function as application software.
